Trainer Dave Dorn (K9STAC) has a proven track record and solid foundation of training and supplying reliable detection dogs to law enforcement departments across the United States. Our dogs are typically specially selected rescue dogs such as; German and Dutch Shepherd or Labrador Retrievers, and a variety of other breeds found to be great in hunt and detection. All trained for Single Purpose - Detection Only. All of K9STAC trained detection dogs come with a 3-4 week handlers' course. THE HANDLERS COURSE IS NOT OPTIONAL.
If you wish to just purchase a trained detection dog without the handlers course, please look elsewhere for your K9 Program needs. The Handler Course is $3500.00 (baring other travel or extended needed training), with a $1500.00 additional cost for the Initial selection, care and maintenance of the canine during its training, (baring specific request from the agency regarding breed type or certification of health specifications). The Handlers Course will focus primarily on mission oriented, real world deployments. K9STAC Certification letter is provided, certifying that the detection dog has in fact been trained to detect the specific target odor(s). K9STAC trains the Canine Team to meet and exceed CA. POST Standards. However, it is recommended that the new handler practice and work his new detection dog for at least 3-6 months before attempting a certification with any of the dozen canine associations. It is also recommended that the department/agency realize that, while certification is important, great caution should be taken NOT to let the certification type training jeopardize the dogs ability to perform real world detection work. K9STAC’s guarantee on health and working ability (barring there are no heavy physical bourdens on the canine by the handler or other training influences by other handler or so called trainer experts) for one year from the beginning of the Handler Course.
